South Glos School Awards
Last night, 29/11/18, the annual South Glos School Awards ceremony was held at Aerospace Bristol. Each year, this event celebrates individuals who have made exceptional progress within secondary schools. All the award-winners, and their guests, sat underneath the wings of Concorde, and each was presented with their award by Olympic gymnast Claudia Fragapane.
Six Castle School students had been nominated to receive rewards : 2 from each Key Stage. These reflected both academic progress but also personal qualities and community contributions. The 6 students were
Year 13 last year : Jack Viles/Lily Redman
Year 11 last year : Yuhan Jiang/Benjy Burgess
Year 9 last year : Thomas Payne/Cerys Dutfield
I'm sure you'll agree that all 6 are excellent examples of the qualities and values we want all students to aspire towards.
In addition, there were also awards for staff within secondary schools who have made significant contributions to the progress of students within schools in the last 12 months. Two of our colleagues from Castle were nominated for these awards : Ally Budd and Sue Riddell. Both Ally and Sue have led teams who have worked tirelessly and in 2018 had great positive impacts on many students in the last year, and both are very deserving of this recognition.
It's also lovely to be able to share that Sharon Reynolds, who joined us in Sept to lead Psychology, was also rewarded last night for her excellent work at Marlwood last year. Well done Sharon.
