Castle School Economists achieve success in national competition
Forecasting economic trends is notoriously difficult especially at the present time with the uncertainty caused by Brexit. In the Economic Research Council’s “Clash of the Titans” competition economists were challenged to predict the level of a range of economic indicators including inflation, growth and employment levels over the course of 2018. Over 900 people entered, including professional economists and university lecturers. It was therefore an incredible achievement for not one but two Castle School A Level Economics’ Students to be placed in the top 10. James Hart achieved 3rd place overall and Luke Scarbrough was 10th . Both students attended a presentation evening at KPMG in Canary Wharf in London. At this event James received a prize and an offer of work experience for his success.
